Lazy day.

Its raining again and now that I have my other duties caught up, I finished a painting I did for the heck of it. A gal named Steph from Carmel Indiana had contacted me the other day to ask if would like to donate an art print for their event in June called A Dog Day Afternoon. I decided I will be donating one of my Huskie prints along with a tshirt and cup. Anyway, she had sent me a photo of her two babies and I played with it a bit and sent her a copy of what I came up with. I hope she likes it!

I'm going to be famous!

Well, almost! I I received this email yesterday: Congratulations! Your work was selected for the "Gilded Palette" Exhibition and auction at the Figge Art Museum!
Yeah!!! I wasn't sure that I would be picked as one of the artists for this show since I had meant to enter it awhile back but forgot and I got a newsletter that reminded everyone that the entry deadline was pretty much the next day. BTW, this isn't an animal art exhibit. It's to do with a lady named Susan L Beningson who has an Indian jewelry collection. Here is the actual info on it:

The Artists Advisory Council (AAC) for the FIGGE ART MUSEUM is organizing an exhibit to compliment the When Gold Blossoms: Indian Jewelry from the Susan L Beningson Collection exhibition showing at the Figge Art Museum from May 31 through August 24, 2008. Ten works of art will be chosen from artists currently living within 150 miles of the Quad Cities for the "The Gilded Palette" exhibit. Those pieces will then be auctioned off during The Golden Gala on May 31st to benefit the Figge Art Museum.

So, I took a deep breath of inspiration and actually did a digital painting in an hour, quickly burned it on a cd along with my artist statement thrown together and self made packaging- yes, I thought, boy, this packaging looks like crap so hopefully they look beyond it!

I threw the kids in the car and drove up to the post office and kissed my pathetic looking package for good luck and mailed it.

I then totally put it out of my mind, thinking oh well, at least I was proud of myself for actually entering some art thing that I always say I'm going to enter but never do. So, it was a TOTAL surprise to me when I opened the email. So, now I have to get it printed and framed and dropped off to the museum by the 13th. I'm so pumped over it!!

If you are local, please come visit and see all the cool art that will be there!

Finally more nice weather!

I just finished a nice traditional portrait of a beautiful dog and noticed it was getting nice outside.

We've had alot of cold, windy and rainy weather lately and I've been couped up inside not to mention, my photography shoots have been put on hold. I have a high school senior shoot that I've been trying to finish. (We started last weekend but it was too windy and cold to finish) I haven't been to the park to get some dog photos either.

So, we decided to get off the computer and have a cookout. I brought my camera out to mess around with and see if I could catch our cardinal family that hangs out in our backyard. You see, it seems that every time I see the male, I don't have my camera on me and when I run and get it, he's always gone!

Well, of course he was nowhere to be seen- I swear he is some magical bird that can do a great disappearing act! But, I still had my other models handy with their 'Not another photo, mom!'
whines. lol.

A new addition to the family!

Well, I thought we were done with our family, but then my daughter came home with a baby kitten and even though my husband swore that we only were going to have one cat, he's a softy even though he won't admit it.

Her name is 'Mama' but I think we might change it since I have a habit of calling Mia 'Little Ma-Ma' so she might get confused with both being called the same name basically. So, if you have any cute name ideas, please let me know!

A great day!

It was so beautiful out today-finally! I'm so excited because this means I can start taking photo shoots. We went to the park today to check out a few new spots for backdrops and took little Mia with of course to be our model. She was more interested in checking out the park and people then to stop and model a pose but I managed to get some good shots.

These are my favorites.

I usually can find some people walking their dogs and I usually am able to get some shots of them but there seemed to not be any dog owners out while we were there-how strange!I did finally find an adorable little toy poodle puppy and her owner was happy to let me take a shot.

Thanks! :)

Isn't she SO ADORABLE?!

Such a cute beagle!

This was a birthday gift to my clients husband. She wasn't sure about going with a pop art look or painterly style but ended up going with the painterly style. I liked the red background and this was my first experiment with that kindof background and I think it turned out well.

Her pick.

Pop art choice.

New artwork

While we are busy being snowed in here in the Midwest, I'm thankful for having art pieces to do.
(My favorite part of my business) I've included them for you to see. Both are presents that the clients are giving to love ones and I hope they enjoy them!

This is Jazz- she looks "jazzy"!

I didn't catch the name of this dog but she sure is cute!

This client ended up going with a larger print and I'm glad because these art pieces

make a big statement and should be enjoyed at a larger size if possible.
I also did a print for a review for the pampered pets site and will list the review link when I get it. I'm excited to hear her reaction!

A yucky day!

I was getting spring fever this weekend with the nice weather change and anxious to get outside and take some pics but now instead of buckets of snow, we're getting buckets of rain! I guess its better as rain then snow but not for the folks that live near the Mississippi and have to worry about flooding banks.

Mia going to her "potty spot" last week.

Today-yuck!

On a brighter side, I finally sold an art piece in my display case at Bucktown- yeah!

This piece just happens to be the very first dog art canvas piece that I did and I had decided to put it up for the heck of it.

I was wondering if I was even going to keep the case because I didnt see much business from it and wondered if there was a demand for pet art in this area. (most of my business comes from online) The director told me that the client was excited to find out that I do custom pet art and so that gave me hope to pursue it further so I ordered a bunch of new prints and canvases and I am going to change everything out to new fresh stuff so if you get a chance to go down there, Im on the 2nd floor. You cant miss me-Im the only pet art display-lol!

This one is my favorite of the pieces going up.

It was such a perfect shot. Koodles to the owner who caught a great shot!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

Hello everyone!
What a great new year this will be! I'm starting this year with a new blog geared towards my pet sites, http://www.tmoodydesigns.com/ and Unleashed Pet Photography at: http://www.tmoodyphotography.com/ . I took some shots this morning of Mia, our little pup even though she didn't seem too much in the mood.

Mia hiding under the table.

Poor Mia was just trying to take a nap!

Oops! Stuck this one in from this summer.

And here is our little kitty Star, hanging out on the stairs.
